Scoops were generous, delicious & very reasonably priced plus a fun variety of flavours! House made waffle cone was 10/10. Staff was super friendly and the decor was so fun and we’re thrilled to have another late evening option in town. Highly recommend checking it out!

Our story
About the shop
When Sarah Webb and her family moved from Ontario to Grand Pré four years ago, they fell in love with Wolfville straight away. But there was one small thing missing. When the family wanted to go out for ice cream, the town’s only option was a lovely gourmet shop — and for one of her sons, who is neurodivergent and has food aversions, a wall of unfamiliar small-batch flavours was more stressful than fun.

She kept hearing the same thing from other people around town: somewhere you could just get a plain scoop, without the deciding. So rather than wait for someone else to open it, Sarah opened it herself. Ice Cream on Elm is a straightforward, point-and-ask hard scoop parlour — you look at the tubs, you point at the one you want, and that’s the whole transaction. It’s open until 10 every night, so nobody has to rush dinner to get there.
The other reason the shop exists is the one Sarah gets emotional about. Her twin teenage sons were ready for their first jobs, and she worried about how that would go for them. So she built a workplace where it would go well — for them, and for anyone else in the same spot. There are sixteen people on the team now, neurodivergent and neurotypical, most of them working their very first job. Nobody is asked for a résumé; teenagers don’t have one yet, and stressing about it helps no one. A conversation tells you far more anyway. New staff are trained by Sarah and paired up on shift, and you can watch confidence turn up one scoop at a time.
The shop itself is bright and a little bit whimsical — pops of colour, oversized flowers on the walls, and a pagoda that used to belong to the Webbs’ back garden until a rainstorm took the original. It’s fully wheelchair accessible, from the door to the counter to the washroom, because a place that’s meant for everyone should actually be reachable by everyone. Most people walk in and say some version of the same thing: oh my gosh, it’s so cute.
Since opening on July 3 the menu has grown carefully, on purpose — scooped ice cream first, then waffle cones and bowls pressed in-house once everyone had the knack. Ice cream sandwiches are next, then sundaes and milkshakes. And unlike most ice cream shops in Nova Scotia, this one plans to stay open all year round.
Sarah’s story, and her words quoted here, draw on reporting by Carole Morris-Underhill for the Valley Journal-Advertiser.
I think Wolfville is so cute, it needs a cute shop. And really, this is a spot for community.Sarah Webb · Owner

What people say after their first scoop
Been in for a scoop? A review is the single most helpful thing you can do for a new little shop — it takes about thirty seconds.
This is the cutest ice cream shop I’ve ever seen! Loved the staff and the owner Sarah was so friendly. It’s also completely wheelchair accessible!
Nice little spot across the street from a cute park (ideal for sitting and enjoying). This place will satisfy your cone craving without terrifying your wallet!… then take your cone to the park or wander Main Street. Great staff, clean shop!
We were looking for a last minute dessert with the kids and came across this cute place near our parking spot. Friendly service, the scoops are generous, with tasty and original flavors (had the Wolf Pass). You can eat your ice cream in the park across the street.
I was their first customer. The owner is so genuine and welcoming and the customer service was amazing! Definitely be going there anytime I want to fulfil my sweet tooth!
